Jewish settlement from the beginning of the 15th century, one of the centres of Moravian Jewry.
Among the best preserved Jewish quarters in Europe, an outstanding urban assemblage - of the original 123 houses, only 4 have been lost, and the council, rabbinate, school, hospital, poorhouse are preserved, as are internal public passages and other interesting architectural details.
